Spiking.... |
Confirmed cases of spiking are rare in Devon and Cornwall, but if you’re out and about this Christmas and think you have been spiked, tell a trusted friend or a member of staff immediately. If you are in immediate danger call 999. Report it to the police once you are safe.
Spiking in any form is a criminal offence, and there are serious consequences for anyone that does it. Harming someone by spiking them could lead to a jail sentence between 10 years and life.
Remember this: whether you’re out with friends or perhaps on an office Christmas party outing, putting extra alcohol into someone's drink without them knowing, even if you know them and think it’s for fun, is still spiking, and can be very dangerous. Feedback from the public tells us that this is one of their major issues. Don’t be that person. Think Safe, Stay Festive!
